Music Practice Room Sign-Ups for the Spring

Spring Semester Sign-Ups for the Music Practice Rooms in the basement of Sulzberger Hall will take place on the following dates. Sign-up takes place at the Res Life office (110 Sulzberger):
  • Tuesday, January 19, 9am-1pm & 2-4pm
  • Wednesday, January 20, 9am-1pm & 2-4pm
  • Thursday, January 21, 9am-1pm & 2-4pm
  • Friday, January 22, 9am-1pm & 2-4pm
The sign-up schedule is *renewed each semester*. That means that the schedule students signed up for in Fall 2015 is no longer active. Students who wish to use the practice rooms this semester must sign up for new times.
  • Declared music majors may reserve up to *10* practice hours per week in any one of the 3 practice rooms.
  • All other students may sign up for up to *5* practice hours per week in any one of the 3 rooms.
Practice hours are chosen on a first-come, first-served basis. They go fast, so the earlier you sign up the better your chances are for choosing desirable hours!

If all of the times you were interested in choosing are taken when you arrive, you can sign up as a "non-scheduled user" -- this would allow you to use a practice room if the scheduled user has not shown up 15 minutes after the hour (i.e. you could use the remaining 45 minutes of the timeslot).

Note: students who live in the Quad are the only students permitted to sign guests in to share their practice hours. All College guest policies apply.

If you have any questions, please contact Res Life at 212-854-5561, or stop by our office (110 Sulzberger).

Spring Room Change & Buy Out Request Forms

Spring Room Change request forms will be available to download from http://barnard.edu/reslife/roomchanges/ starting Mon, Nov 23.  Request forms will be due no later than 1pm on Thur, Dec 3.  If you are granted a room change, you must be willing to stay until the end of exam week (10am on Thur, Dec 24) to complete your room change before Winter Break starts.

If a vacancy opens up in your double or triple, you may submit a request to "Buy Out" that space (and not get a new roommate).  Buy Out Request forms will be available to download from http://barnard.edu/reslife/roomchanges/ starting Mon, Nov 23. Otherwise, the vacancy will likely be filled through a room change or by a new spring student.

If a vacancy opens up in your room/suite, you may encourage a friend to request the space through a Room Change Request or by specifying your room/suite on their housing application (i.e. students returning from abroad, readmitted, etc). You will need to submit a Roommate/Suitemate Request Form (http://barnard.edu/reslife/roomchanges/Roommate_Suitemate_Request_Form.pdf) mutually requesting your friend, no later than 1pm on Thur, Dec 3.

40+ visiting international students will be coming this Spring from Denmark, Italy, China, South Korea, and Singapore. If you have a space opening up in your room/suite and would like to request one of these students, please email housing@barnard.edu.

Spring Room Change Request Forms
