Laundry Service suspension during Thanksgiving and Winter Breaks

The E&R Laundry Service will be suspended during the Thanksgiving holiday and Winter Break.  Service suspension and resumption dates are as follows:

THANKSGIVING BREAK
Last shift before break = Monday, 11/18
First shift after break = Sunday, 12/1
*No Service during the week of 11/24 through 11/30*
Service resumes as usual during the week of 12/1 through 12/5
WINTER BREAK
Last shift before break = Monday, 12/16
First shift after break = Sunday, 1/26
*No Service during the weeks of 12/15 through 12/21 to 1/19 through 1/25*
Service resumes as usual during the week of 1/26 through 2/1
Important Note: While Sunday and Monday shifts are designated as “drop-off shifts,” it is advised that students do not drop off laundry on either Sunday, 11/17, Monday, 11/18 or Sunday, 12/15, Monday, 12/16 unless they do not wish to retrieve their laundry until after the corresponding break has ended.  This is because “pick-up shifts” will not be held during these two weeks.  In addition, there will be no access to the laundry closet thereafter until service resumes.  These shifts are intended to provide students with an extra opportunity to pick up their bags and hangers prior to the start of each break.

If you have any questions, please contact Jody at jwecht@barnard.edu.  Have wonderful breaks and be safe!

E&R Laundry Service update for Spring Break

March 11 to 16 will be the final week of service prior Spring Break for students subscribed to the E&R Laundry Service.

**This means that the shift on Saturday, 3/16/13 will be the last opportunity for you to retrieve anything from the laundry room before Spring Break.**

Since there will be no service, there will be NO laundry shifts on Monday, 3/18/13, Tuesday, 3/19/13, Friday, 3/22/13 or Saturday, 3/23/13.

Service will resume the following week, 3/25/13 through 3/30/13.  If shift times should change, an email will be sent. The first shift following Spring Break will take place on Monday, 3/25/13 and service will resume normally as of that day on.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Jody Wecht.  Have an enjoyable & safe break and thanks so much!

Laundry Machine Replacements in the Quad

In conjunction with our on-campus laundry vendor, Tedimatts, Facilities Services is in the process of removing all the washers and dryers in both Reid and Sulzberger Halls in preparation for the installation of brand new washers and dryers.  As soon as the old machines are removed, the rooms will be closed so that Tedimatts and Facilities Services can clean and paint each location.

Sometime next week, after the rooms have been cleaned and painted, brand new front loading washers and stacked dryers will be installed.  Instructions on how to use these machines will be posted in each laundry room.

Please be aware that we will be leaving one room, Sulzberger 3rd floor, open and operational during this transition in order that summer residents with laundry needs have access to do laundry in the quad should the need arise.

Since this will be the only operational laundry room in the quad during this time, we ask that you please be courteous and remove your garments from the machines as soon as your cycle is over so that your neighbors can use the machines as well.  Students with large amounts of laundry to do during this period should use the laundry rooms either in building 600 or in Elliott Hall.

The laundry room on the 3rd floor of Sulzberger will be cleaned, painted and have new units installed as soon as the other floors are fully functional.

Thank you for your patience!

Quad 4th Floor Laundry Room

Greetings Residents of the 4th Floor,

As you may know, there was recently a flood in the laundry room (near the Sulzberger elevators) on your floor. Our Facilities Staff have worked hard to rectify this problem and the laundry room is anticipated to be operational again beginning this Friday (10/24).

The problem in the laundry room was due to the pipes. The plumber has replaced the pipes and put in a system that will allow the water to flow more efficiently. Additionally, the damaged dry wall has been replaced in the laundry room and the carpets outside of it are being professionally steam cleaned.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. I'm glad that the problem will be fixed soon and hope that it hasn't been to inconvenient.

If you have any questions, please let me know -- Steve Tolman, Associate Director for the First Year Focus
