Important info about Winter Break

The Barnard residence halls are closed for Winter Break starting at 9am on Friday, December 19, and do not reopen until 9am on Saturday, January 17.

NOTE:  The residence halls *do not* close for Fall, Thanksgiving, or Spring breaks (although most College offices, including Health Services and the dining halls, will be closed for all or part of those breaks).

Students may not return to or live in the residence halls over Winter Break unless they have been approved for Winter Break Housing in advance.  Only students living in the residence halls for both the Fall & Spring semesters may request Winter Break Housing.

The Winter Break Housing Request form will be available online (barnard.edu/reslife/winterbreak/) starting Monday, November 17, and must be submitted no later than 4pm on Wednesday, December 3, 2014.  Approval is not guaranteed.

Students who are approved for housing during Winter Break will be charged $400.

From Friday, December 19, through Monday, January 5, Plimpton will be the only residence hall open for approved students during Winter Break.  616, 620, and Elliott will continue to be closed completely until Monday, January 12.

Students who wish to be in housing when their residence hall is completely closed must secure permission to stay in the room of a student whose residence halls is open for approved Winter Break Housing students.
